At SWCM we conduct Insurance Appraisals for insurance companies and homeowners. As a certified insurance appraiser through IAUA. We review the contractors’ estimate and the insurance companies’ adjuster estimate. Then we take both estimates out to the location meeting the other appraiser and walk the project and find out what the differences are. Then we write the correct estimate. We then discuss the estimate with the opposing appraiser and come to an agreement to get an award. If we cannot come to an agreement, we will have to invoke the umpire. The umpire will review both estimates and speak to both appraisers. Then they will decide what the correct estimate is and send the award letter out to both appraisers for them to sign. At least two parties must sign the award letter. We are also a Certified Umpire though IAUA. Working as an umpire in a claim we look at both appraisers’ estimates and speak to both appraisers to figure out what the correct cost is for the project. Sometimes we will have to go to the site and meet with both appraisers with their estimates to find out what the correct estimate is. Then we will write an award letter and send it out to both parties for signatures.
